It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Danielle Annette Peterson Austin, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She departed this mortal life on April 24, 2026.
Danielle was born on March 16, 1976, in Provo, Utah, to Lynne Ann Hoover and Kyle Smith. She was later adopted by Duane Peterson. She spent her childhood in Utah and Weber Counties and graduated from Weber High School in 1994. From the age of 16, Danielle demonstrated a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to service.
She dedicated 10 years to First Health Insurance before beginning a 20-year career with Ogden City as a Fleet and Facilities Administer. Danielle took great pride in her work and built lasting relationships with her colleagues.
Danielle was married to Kip Edwards and later to Chad Austin; both marriages ended in divorce. Through every chapter of her life, she remained resilient, loyal, and full of heart.
She found joy in line dancing, boating, long walks, football, and shopping trips with her mom. Danielle also had a lifelong love of reading, a passion nurtured by her beloved Grandma Hoover.
Danielle is survived by her mother, Lynne (Randy Clawson); her brother Jeff (Christie); her nephews, Jett and Cole; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members who loved her deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Kyle Smith and her adopted father, Duane Peterson.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her special friend, Dave; Dr. Eric Johnson of McKay Dee Hospital; Intermountain Hospice; and the many dedicated medical professionals who provided compassionate care.
Danielle will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
