Vernon Lynn Swenson

Vernon Lynn Swenson passed away peacefully on June 22, 2015. He was born April 23, 1934 in Soda Springs, ID, the youngest of six children born to Naomi Chappell James and John Lewis Swenson. Lynn was raised in Provo, UT, attending BY High where he met the love of his life, Jaqueline Noel Brandley. He served in the army for two years during the Korean War. After returning to BYU, Jaque and Lynn were sealed in the SLC Temple for time and all eternity on June 3, 1957.

Lynn attended medical school at George Washington University in Washington D.C. graduating third in his class of 100. After a residency in Phoenix, AZ, they settled in Townsend, MT. They grew to love the people and the beautiful scenery of the area. After a few years, they bought a farm outside of town where Lynn relieved stress by irrigating and fixing things. He practiced medicine in Townsend until he retired.

He is survived by Jaque, his wife of 58 years, and his five children that he “rented for vacations” and ended up keeping forever: Susan Neuffer, Krista Gotberg (Byron), Eric (Sharolyn), Dana Stott (Alan), and Alisa Cassity. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well as his sister Ruth Johnson.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and four of his siblings, Helen Eastmond, John, Beth Walker, and Gene.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Oak Forest Chapel, 2250 North 2200 East in Layton, UT. A memorial service will also be held in the Townsend, MT, LDS Chapel on Saturday, July 11, 2015.
