Tami Herrick Engelke

April 23, 1979 ~ October 16, 2021

Tami Herrick Engelke, age 42, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021, after a long bout with the effects of brain aneurysms. Born on April 23, 1979, she was the daughter of Richard A. and Sharon C. Herrick.

Tami was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1997. After high school she worked as a dental assistant which became her passion. Dr. Richard Petty introduced Tami to this field of work, and he became a second father to her. She worked in the dental field for over 20 years and cherished the relationships she built through her work. The people she worked with were like family to her. She loved talking to her patients and meeting new people every day. In her spare time, she enjoyed exercise, fitness competitions, baking and taking walks with family.

Tami was so loving, funny and energetic. Most of all though, she loved her family and especially her children Jack and Elle. Her very best friend in life was her mother, Sharon.  Tami inherited her passion for dancing and fitness from her mother and they were truly inseparable. If you knew her you would know, if she was not at home or work, she could almost always be found spending time with her mom.

Her other favorite activity was baking, and she loved baking treats for her kids. Jack and Elle were her entire world. She loved baking them homemade birthday cakes, as well as their favorite cookies for after school. She was a baking perfectionist and loved the joy it brought to her family.

Later in life, Tami found the love of her life, and married Tyler Engelke. Their love was infectious, and everybody knew this just by spending time with them. They had many wonderful times together, but the love story they shared was cut much too short for this beautiful couple. Tyler never left her side and remained hopeful, positive, and optimistic every day over the last three years of her life. Every doctor, nurse and caregiver commented on their unyielding love and how Tyler stayed by her side through thick and thin.

Tami is survived by her husband, Tyler Engelke; her children, Jack Alexander 16 and Elle Alexander 12; her stepson, Mason Engelke; parents, Rick and Sharon Herrick; her sister, Trisha Ellis and her family; and her brother, Cache Herrick.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
