Robert (Bob) Welty

Robert (Bob) Lee Welty, 81, of Murray, Utah passed away May 9th, 2021 at his home. He was born to parents David and Imogene (Higgins) Welty on April 6th, 1940, in Kennett, Missouri.

Robert joined the Air Force and left his home state of Michigan in 1958, he ended up being stationed in Utah where he fell in love with a girl and the west, and it was over his mother’s initial objections that he married the girl and made the west his home. His mom quickly warmed up to the idea and grew to also love the girl and her visits to the west. He married that girl, June Edwards on September 18th, 1959. They were happily married for over 44 years before June passed away unexpectedly on October 13th, 2003.

After June’s death Bob tried to fill the hole in his heart with roller coasters and sailing trips but eventually it was another girl who filled that space. She was exactly what he needed, a loving companion who gave him a new lease on life while leaving room for his first love. He married Diane Angle on November 13th, 2004.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Tresa), David, Jackie (Rick) Gerard and Jennifer (Clint) Bennett. He is also survived by his wife, Diane, and her children Joshua (Alisia) Lopez, Travis (Kristin) Lopez, Jacob Lopez and Gina Lloyd, 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his brothers James (Georgia), David and sister Elizabeth Deneau.

He is preceded in death by his parents David and Imogene, his wife June, and sister-in-law Winifred.

The family would like to thank the hospice caregivers, Jeremy, Tammy, David and the on-call visiting angel Makell.

Bob’s children also wish to thank Diane, for her care for their father especially during the last difficult months.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Highland Ward, 932 Greenoaks Dr., Murray.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
