Paul E. Collins

Our hearts are broken; the last of the Collins kids is gone. Paul E. Collins passed away June 7, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Paul was the son of Viola Dickinson Collins and Harry Collins. He was born on January 31, 1927 in Richwood, Ohio. Paul grew up on a large farm near Richwood.

On April 23, 1945 he married Betty Jane Wolford. One day after they married he was shipped off to boot camp and served for the next 22 months in the Army. Paul was shot in a training accident while serving in Japan and he could tell you the story anytime you asked.

After the service, he returned to Ohio and worked at the Marion Engineer Depot in Columbus. In 1962, he moved his family to Ogden, Utah to work at the Ogden Defense Depot where he worked as a General Foreman. He retired in 1982.

In the 1970’s, Paul and the family built a cabin in the Uintah Mountains, where he loved to fish.

Paul is survived by his wife, Betty; children: Junie (Gary) Tomshack, and Terry (Michelle) Collins; grandchildren: Tim (Jackie) Lucero, and Kelly Tomshack; great-grandchildren: Ryan and Jared Lucero; and his beloved cat, Chippy. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers: Denvil and Amil; sisters: Madlyn, Ruth, and Mary.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Ogden First Baptist Church, 2519 Jefferson Ave., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

The family would like to thank the nurses and CNA’s at MacKay Dee Hospital for the great care given to Dad.
