Melanie Thayne

January 7, 1962 — November 24, 2018

Melanie Thayne, 56, of Spanish Fork, Utah passed away after a courageous fight with cancer on November 24th, 2018. She passed away at her home in Layton, Utah, surrounded by her husband and children.

Melanie was born January 7th, 1962 to Edward Blair Thomas and Genevieve Ritz Thomas. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1980 and began school at Southern Utah University. She later completed her degree at Weber State University. She worked as a Release of Information Specialist at Ciox.  As a mother of seven, and a grandmother of 14, as well as many stepchildren and step-grandchildren that she claimed as her own, family life was important to her. She was creative and filled many scrapbooks of memories of her children. She was known for her quick humor, which she carried with her even through her difficult illness. She was defined by her courageous, uncomplaining manner.

Survivors include her parents, Edward and Genevieve Thomas, and siblings David Thomas (Becky), Pamela Thomas, Braden Thomas, and Jenifer Lee (Brysen). She is also survived by her children Angela Handy (Colin), Megan Mann (Reid), and Carl Christopherson (McKell) from her marriage to Curtis Christopherson whom preceded her in death. Her son Corbin Thomas survives her. She is survived by her children Austin Purser, Rachel Purser, and Kyle Purser from her marriage to Troy Purser. Her loving husband Michael Thayne also survives her. Melanie is also preceded in death by her brother Gregory Thomas (Cheiko), and her sister Karen Smart (Steve).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Palmyra Ward, 1866 W. 5000 So., Spanish Fork.  Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.

Melanie will be buried in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.

Melanie will be in our loving memory until we meet again.
