Mark Arnold

Our mother is too modest and humble to write this tribute to our father Mark Elliott Arnold and therefore it was given to us children to honor our father. How do you honor a man that gave you everything? He began his life with a major trial at the age of fifteen months when his mother died of cancer. There is no doubt that there were tears exchanged and happiness felt as Mark embraced his mother after he passed on to his next mission and assignment.

Mark stayed close to his father, sisters and brother as he grew up. He loved sports. His determination and competitive nature lead him to great heights both in athletic competition and in worldly accolades. He started with a wrestling scholarship to the College of Eastern Utah. From there he was recruited and received a scholarship to wrestle at Brigham Young University. The College of Eastern Utah is where his love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ began and Brigham Young University is where his eternal devotion and love began for his beautiful wife Diana Dee Greene. Mark always said his marriage to Diana proved that even a blind squirrel can find an acorn every once in a while. Mark and Diana were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 28, 1979. Our father taught us how to love our spouses by the way he loved and doted over our mother. She truly was his inspiration. Mark went on to serve a mission shortly after joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Norway. He loved the people and always told stories of the Gospel and his hard work. His stories of his mission inspired his sons to serve fulltime missions.

Mark went on to law school after BYU to Pepperdine University. After law school he became a successful and well respected attorney. He inspired others to become attorneys through his example of truth and dedication. Mark taught everyone that there is nothing you couldn’t accomplish if you involved the Lord in your life.

Mark’s true joy came from his faith in his Lord Jesus Christ and his family. Mark and Diana went on to have seven beautiful children. The joy that they brought to his life exceeded any accomplishment he had. As they added spouses and grandchildren his joy became even greater. His love was never-ending and he had the ability to see them for who they could and would become.

Mark had a constant thirst for knowledge. His gospel knowledge and faith was felt by anyone that came in contact with him. To say the Gospel is his passion would not do it service. The Gospel is how he lived his life every day. Somehow Mark always had time for others and put their needs before his own. Mark is a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, teacher, attorney, and friend.

We know this is the not the last time we will see our father and husband. We will sit with him in the eternities and watch as the sun rises and exclaim that Jesus is our Savior and the Gospel is true.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother Annetah Eva White, father Clerin Clay Arnold, step-mother Lucille Hatch Arnold and brother, Clay Leroy Arnold. Mark is leaving behind his wife Diana Dee Arnold, his seven children, Brian Arnold (Emily), Tara Maisey (Scott), Taylor Arnold (Paige), Spencer Arnold, Abigail White (Justin), Sterling and Ashton. His Grandchildren, Drake, Jax, Broox and Hendrik Arnold (Brian and Emily), Rockwell, Abram and Madeline Maisey (Tara and Scott). Payson Arnold (Taylor and Paige). Two little angels on their way in February and March. He also is leaving behind sisters, Billie Benedict, Clerine Addington, and Kay Jemmett, and brother Steve Alder (Doreen) and extended family that he loved and cherished so much.

Mark will continue to find eternal happiness in his posterity and be there to watch over each of us.
