Marilyn B. Linde

October 5, 1933 ~ July 7, 2019

Marilyn Blackner Linde, most recently of Provo, Utah, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2019 after a brief illness. My mom was 85 years old and lived a happy and productive life. She was born in Lyman, Wyoming, and grew up mostly in Evanston, Wyoming. She was the oldest of two children and according to her mother she was a mischievous child.  She had a black lab named Duke, was a cheerleader in high school, a lifeguard at the city pool, and generally enjoyed her childhood.

Mom attended BYU for a short time and hated it and transferred to Utah State University.  She graduated with a BS degree in Journalism. While at USU she met and married my dad and they later divorced.  I was born in Salt Lake City while they attended school and when I was two, we moved to Rio Linda, California, where my dad started his first job teaching.

My mom is a real animal lover and we always had dogs and cats. She was always very kind to animals which at one point caused us to have a bear snout in the fly window of our car in Yellowstone Park one year.

My mom always put me first. She was always there for me! I never had a doubt of her love for me and I knew I could always talk to her and depend on her for anything. She was and is a completely selfless person. That’s why I wanted her headstone to say “Best Mom Ever”.

Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most of her callings revolved around the Primary. I had the privilege of being her escort as she took out her own endowment years ago.

My mom did not have an easy life, but she was a survivor, a fighter. Very intelligent and capable in her work life. Mom was a retiree of the State of California Job Match department. She was loved and respected by all.

I, her only daughter, Chris Linde am her only surviving relative.  Mom was preceded in death by her son, Scott; her parents, John Henry and Mildred Blackner; and her brother, Danny

My mom is a righteous soul and I will miss her every day until we are reunited. It makes me happy to know she is having a sweet reunion with all her loved ones on the other side! How thankful I am for the plan of salvation and for the Atonement of Jesus Christ!
