M Shattuck

October 28, 1931 — April 26, 2019

Meredith David Shattuck passed away April 26, 2019 in St. George, Utah after suffering a heart attack. He was surrounded by his family.

He was born October 28, 1931 in San Jose, CA to Meredith and Maxine Shattuck. He married Janet Eileen Marsh on August 4, 1955, in the Logan Temple.

David grew up in Northern California. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1953. He met his wife, Janet, while attending BYU. They lived in California where they raised their children.

David worked at IBM as a Senior Research Chemist and secured numerous patents. He was the pioneer of developing photoconductivity, which led to the invention of the IBM photo copier. They relocated to Utah in 1991 where he did research at Utah State University.

David was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many leadership positions as a counselor in a Bishopric, Stake Missionary, Sunday School Teacher and High Priest Assistant.  He enjoyed drawing, restoring old cars, gardening, and driving his tractor around and caring for his walnut orchard.

David lost his first wife, Janet, January 27, 2006 and later met Nelda Robinson and married April 14, 2007. He was a very loving and thoughtful husband to both.

Survivors include his second wife, Nelda Robinson Shattuck, Alpine, UT; children, Patricia (Joe) Laffin, Miami, FL; Mark (Linda) Shattuck, Provo, UT; Rick (Denise) Shattuck, Hollister, CA; Doug (Karen) Shattuck, Alpine, UT; Donna (Brad) Belnap Alpine, UT; sister, Marilyn Matis, Lehi, UT; and 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Marsh Shattuck, his father, Meredith Shattuck, his mother, Maxine Spendlove Shattuck; and one granddaughter, Janae Alyse Shattuck. Stepfather of six children, 30 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held  Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alpine 5th Ward, 165 North 100 East St., Alpine, Utah. Friends may call Thursday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 N. 900 E. American Fork, Utah (located four blocks north of Mount Timpanogos Temple) and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services Friday.

Interment, Alpine City Cemetery.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
