Lesa Pace

Lesa June Stephenson Pace, age 54, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 20, 2018, in Ogden, UT after suffering from a severe head injury.  Lesa was born March 15, 1964, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Leonard Jay Stephenson and June Eliza Thurgood Stephenson.

Lesa lived in Idaho, Arizona, Oregon and Colorado before her family moved to North Ogden, UT in 1976.  Wherever Lesa lived, she made friends whom she loved and served.  She graduated from Weber High School in 1982 where she served as a senior class officer.  She excelled in school and loved athletics.  After high school, she attended Utah State University and Weber State University where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.

She married the love of her life, Mike Pace, on August 23, 1984, in the Salt Lake Temple.  They were blessed with four children, Kelli Lyn Pace Jones (Dax Jones), Carson Michael Pace (Kira Williams), Quinn Stephenson Pace (Andrea Mann), and Tanner Jay Pace (Jessi George) and 6 grandchildren Pacer, Will, Stetson, Ty, Skye and Madi.  They raised their family in Layton, UT but also lived in Hooper, UT; Cornelius, OR and Rockwall, TX.  As a family they enjoy sporting events, camping, skiing, snowmobiling, playing board games, watching Lesa do puzzles and spending time together.  Lesa was a loving grandmother, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, teacher, and friend.  She exemplified selfless service and Christlike love and often found time to attend activities for her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lesa was an exceptional teacher who taught at North Ogden Elementary (UT), ran a preschool in her home with her dearest friend Brigette Bertagnolli, then returned to teaching at Morgan Elementary (UT), Garland Elementary (TX) and Snow Horse Elementary (UT).  She had a passion for teaching math, loved her students and had a special way of making each child feel loved and important.

Lesa was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in various callings with many beloved friends. Her influence for good has affected people wherever she has been and will stand as a testament of her love for Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her parents, brother (Lane Stephenson), sisters (Lauri Stevenson and Lindi Oldham), husband, four children and her six beloved grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Peacefield Ward/Valley View Stake, 1589 E. Gentile Street, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
