- Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Kay Vernon Bird, 73, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in Ogden.

He was born December 11, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to Vernon B. and Marie J. Bird. He was educated in Ogden and graduated from Weber High School in 1957.

Kay was in the National Guard, he served from 1961 to 1967.

On December 1, 1962, Kay married his sweetheart, Sharon "Sherry" Thornton in Ogden, Utah.

He was part owner with Ronald Bailey where they operated and owned B & H Radiator, Inc. for 31 years.

Kay and Sherry resided in Mesquite, Nevada for seven years. They moved back to be closer to their kids and grandchildren. Kay enjoyed boating, camping, four wheeling and walking his two Yorkies, Buddy and Maddy.

Kay is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sherry; two sons, Zan (Mindy) Bird, Roy; Travis (Shannon) Bird, West Point; one sister, Merida (Ronald) Bailey, Riverdale; and three loveable grandchildren, Taigan, Tyler and Presley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a special granddaughter, Kiara Emma Bird, his "delicious apple".

Graveside services will be held Friday, March 23rd at 11 a.m. at the Roy City Cemetery, 2300 West 5200 South.

The family will meet with friends on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children''s Hospital.
