Karen Harrison Smith Morris

1938 ~ 2016

Karen Harrison Smith Morris was born to Wayne Harrison and Beverly Alberts on August 28, 1938 in Ogden, UT. She was raised by Beverly Alberts and William Mummey.

She graduated from Weber High School and went on to become a jack of all trades with many passions. She worked as a hair stylist, worked many years for the IRS, worked for Parsons Companies, and she was the treasurer of the city of Isleton, CA. She also worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Isleton, CA and was a real estate agent.

Throughout her life Karen had many great accomplishments. At age 17 she was named Miss Liverpool in Liverpool, England--a title given for her beauty and radiance which she carried with her the entirety of her life. She also built a large family over the years. She was a loving mother to five children, and was even a mother to all of her children's friends. She was also an incredible grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  If you asked her, she would have told you that her greatest accomplishment was the strong and tight-knit family that she built. In life, her favorite moments were the times that she was able to get the whole family together so that she could fill her home with laughter.

She married JW “Bill” Smith and had four boys. She later married Dennis Morris and had one daughter. It wasn't until later on in life when Karen finally found her soul mate, Richard Mettey.

She is survived by sister, Becki Jefferis; children, Brent Dee Smith and Rebecca (Udell) Smith, Jeffrey T. Smith and Angela (Arave) Smith, Danielle (Morris) Downey and James Downey; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Wayne Harrison, William Mummey, Beverly Mummey, Nancy Harrison Kendall, Ron Harrison, Dennis Harrison, JW Smith, Dennis Morris, Richard Mettey; two sons, Chad Joseph Smith and Randy William Smith, and great-granddaughter, Alicia Charisse Burkleo.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
