John Christian Danks

John Christian Danks passed away on June 27, 2013. He was born on June 23, 1949, to Ruby and Adolf Danks, in Ogden, UT. He graduated from Ogden High School Class of 1968 and Weber State University with a Bachelors of Science in 1979.

He married the love of his life Shauna Nish, on June 27, 1969. They were later sealed in the Bern, Switzerland LDS Temple in 1970. Together they raised their son, John Christian II, their pride and joy.

John served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. John had an outstanding career with the Utah Highway Patrol. He was promoted to Sergeant where he was in charge of the Port of Entries for the state of Utah. He was then promoted to Lieutenant where he served in the Training Division and later took command of Section II in Weber County until his retirement in 1996. He helped develop Emergency Vehicle Operations for the Peace Officer Standards and Training, Utah Department of Public Safety, and instructed there after his retirement.

He was an avid skier, softball player, and golfer. He was instrumental in his son''s development and successes in life. He took great pride watching his son raise 3 precious daughters. He will truly be missed.

John is survived by his beautiful wife, Shauna, Layton; son, John Christian II (Marianne); granddaughters, Courtney, Kaley, and Kaci all of Phoenix; and brother, Philip (Patti) Danks, Huntsville.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Pyle Danks; father, Adolf Danks; and oldest brother, Richard Danks.

Services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013, 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 at the mortuary. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT.
