Joan Morrill

Joan Beverly Walker Morrill passed away June 1, 2020 at her home in Layton, Utah at age 86.

She was born in Lapoint, Utah on November 3, 1933 to Leo James and Mary Agnes Foley Walker.

She spent her younger years in Lapoint and graduated from Union High School.

Joan married Francis Marion Morrill on February 18, 1953 in Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah.  Together with their family lived in Moses Lake, WA, Vernal, UT, Jackson, WY, Cache Valley, UT and Pleasant View, Utah.  She has lived in Layton for the past two years.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served with her husband as hosts at Temple Square in Salt Lake City.  Joan enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family.  She was an avid quilter.  Every child, grandchild and great grandchild has a quilt that was made special for them.  In her later years while she lost the ability to do many things, however she quilted up to the very end.

Joan had a love of the Savior, Jesus Christ.  She had a personal relationship with Him her entire life.  Perhaps her greatest legacy was her ability to instill that same love into her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her children; sons, Steven Marion (Micheale) Morrill, Benton, AR, Phillip (Jillene) Morrill, Layton, UT, David Morrill, Layton, UT, daughters Lorraine (Dawson) Hedges, Huntsville, UT, Marilyn (Boyd) Clayton, Kaysville, Utah, 26 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Marion, parents, two daughters-in-law Diane and Jody.

The family wishes to thank Visiting Angels and SYMBII Hospice for their help over the past year.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 12 p.m. at the Tridell Cemetery, Tridell, Utah.
