Jerry Ray Childers, affectionately known as “The King” to his family, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday May 9, 2021 at his home in Hooper, Utah. He was born on October 27, 1964 in El Paso, Texas to Virginia DeLoris and Patrick Layman Childers. He was the third of five children.

After graduating from Highlands High School in Sacramento, CA, Jerry joined the United States Air Force in 1984 as an Airframe Repair Specialist working on the SR-71 and the U2. He was stationed at Maither and Beale AFB. In 1991 he was deployed to Kuwait and served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Jerry was awarded the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal with valor in addition to several other medals, achievements, and ribbons during his time in the Air Force.

After the Air Force Jerry worked various jobs before becoming a civilian employee at Hill Air Force Base where he worked on A-10 Warthogs and most recently as a Technical Order Manager on missiles.

Jerry married Teri Fitzgerald on October 5, 1985 in Sacramento, California. They were blessed with two children, Brian Patrick and Raychel Kathleen. They later divorced.

Jerry married Kimberly Manful on July 11, 2009 in Ogden, Utah.

Jerry was an avid sports fan (although not a cowboys fan). He liked to travel and spend time with his extended family. He was always willing to help people especially when it came to fixing cars.

Jerry and Kimberly are currently members of Washington Heights Church. Jerry enjoyed volunteering his time in the sound booth and live streaming the services for many years.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Kimberly Childers; his parents, Patrick and DeLoris Childers; his son, Brian and daughter, Raychel; his brother; Carl (Noel), his twin brother, Tim (Terry), his sisters, Debbie and Tracey (John). In addition, he is survived by several nieces, nephews, great- nieces, and great-nephews.
