Jean Johnson

Jean Draney Johnson, our dearly beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully on June 7th, 2019, at the age of 80. She was born February 28th, 1939 to Leslie and Eva Draney. She leaves behind her siblings: Orwin (Linda) Draney, Ann (Jan) Blau, and Helen (Dee) Hyde; her children: John (Laurie) Pierotti, Michael (Judy) Jarman, Eric (Lennette) Jarman, and Misti (Loren) Raleigh. Grandchildren: Angie Pierotti, Jonathan (Cami) Pierotti, Taylor (Avery) Jarman, Breanna (Bryson) Frizzell, Karissa Jarman, Rebecca (Auston) Woodard, Kaitlyn Jarman, Lora Raleigh, Patrick Jarman, Samuel Jarman. Great-grandchildren; Joseph Pierotti, Addison Pierotti, Auriella Woodard, Jacob Frizzell, Landon Pierotti, Brantley Woodard, and Eva Frizzell.

Jean was best known for her love of crafts and she loved to cross stich, crochet, and do ceramic painting. She loved making burp cloths for family friends, but she especially loved making them for her great grandchildren. Jean had a beautiful talent for coloring and she has shared her completed work with family and friends. She had a love for puzzles, and would always ask us if we wanted to sit down and put one together with her. Jean has always had a love for jokes and making friends. It seems there was always a new friend for her to find and share her laughter with, no matter where she found herself. Jean truly loved to inspire smiles across faces young and old.

When Jean was in her 20’s she worked as a model in California. She told her kids many times over the years that the best avocado’s she ever had were from when she lived in California.

She had a special fondness for camping and fishing. She loved being surrounded by nature and could often be found patiently coloring beautiful landscape scenes. To go along with this, she also had a great fondness for storytelling. Often you could hear her tell the tale if shooting her Grandpa’s bull when she was young. Another story was the infamous tale, infamous to a certain uncle that is, of her little bucket that she had received as a gift when she was very young and the stitches required to fix the tussle that evolved with it. Stitches that had to be applied to that same certain uncle.

Jean also had a love for Genealogy; she loved tracing family lines back and sharing what she found with the family. She was also able to submit many names to the temple.

She was a faithful Latter-day Saint and as a family we look forward to our reunion with her when our call to return home comes. We know she’ll be waiting to receive us with a warm hug, a long laugh, and a sweet treat; especially the sweet treat as her diabetes has gone and she can enjoy them once again. She’s dearly missed here, but we know she is enjoying being reunited with her mom and dad. We are all sure she has already had her dad take her fishing.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 14, 2019 at 11a.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
