James "Jim" Eggett

May 23, 1954 — July 28, 2021

James L Eggett

James L Eggett, (or maybe as you knew him “Jim”) snuck off to take one more nap before returning to his Heavenly Father on July 28, 2021, in his home in Kaysville Utah. Loved by many, Jim would often say “The good die young, so I’ll be around for a long time” but to his unfortunate surprise, he was a better man then he realized. Leaving a self described life of “Better than some, not as good as others”. All those that knew him knew of his caring and patient demeanor, wanting nothing more than to help, even if it just meant to listen.

Born on May 23, 1954 to father (Joseph Leroy Eggett) and mother (Thelma Genevieve Eggett). He was the seventh child and a bit of a surprise. His childhood was filled with the exciting life of waking up early, a laundry list of chores, and working on the farm. All of which he can thank for his hard work ethic. But not all times were about work, he often talked about the fun he had as a child, whether it be his rock fights with friends, summer nights sleeping out on the deck, or family outings at Eggett park.

Soon after graduating he married his first wife, Leslie Hintze and together they had five children. Jim worked several jobs before completing his schooling, earning him a Bachelor's degree and beginning his career as a computer engineer for Davis School District. Jim often was able to get his work done early in order to head home half way through the day so he could “catch up on some sleep” before having to head back and “pretend like he cared”.

He later met his second wife, Denese Blair through a mutual friend. It didn’t take long for him to realize the happiness she brought into his life, and they later married in 2014. This brought a whole new side of life, and seven step-daughters that he may not have been totally prepared for. But it didn't take long for him to find a new appreciation and love for his family, and especially his favorite title, Grandpa.

After 34 years with Davis School District, Jim happily retired at the age of 64. But the retired life seemed to be too uneventful for someone who had worked for so long. So he picked up a part time job working for Smith's Food and Drug. There his true love for coffee, especially Starbucks, was able to become a daily staple in his life. While working, Jim would make sure to start his day with a large cup of coffee and begin his routine around the store. Bringing his happy personality he would make his rounds to get his daily dish of drama from each of his fellow associates. Even after leaving Smith’s, Jim would still continue to sneak out nearly every morning in order to get his daily cup of coffee, and hopeful gossip.

Jim is preceded in death by his father Joseph Leroy Eggett, mother Thelma Gevevieve Eggett, brother Duane Jospeh Eggett, sister Marlene Eggett, and son Zachary Scott Eggett. He is survived by his wife Denese Blair Eggett and children, son Jeremy Eggett, daughter Lexi (Sunia) Tua’one, daughter Brandie (Nate) Silvernail, son Patric (Amanda) Eggett, step-daughters Amy (Zack) Trimble, Brandi (Aaron) Johnson, Cherri Webster, Dakeri (Tony) Baca, Jody (Dan) Crane, Traci (Kevin) Curtis, and Hollie (Tyler) Rosenlund. He was a proud and loving grandfather and step-grandfather to 33 grandchildren.
