Ida Bernele Christopherson Hale 1924- 2012

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Ida Bernele Christopherson Hale (Bernele to all who knew her) returned to her Heavenly Father, September 1, 2012 in Logan, Utah at the age of 88. She was born June 4, 1924 to George Franklin Christopherson and Sylvia Regina Pope Pierpont in Salt Lake City. She was the oldest of five children. Mom graduated from East High School and married her sweetheart, Clint, in the Salt Lake Temple November 19, 1943. Except for the eight months separation while Clint served in Washington, Hawaii and Guam before the end of WWII, Mom and Dad were virtually inseparable. They were blessed with three children: Gary, Pamela and Chris.

During the lean post-war years, Mom worked at various jobs to help support the family while Dad finished his degree. Though a devoted wife and mother, the vocation she enjoyed the most on the side was in Tupperware. She became one of the top performers in the Salt Lake Valley and was soon promoted and became a top selling manager as well over a period that spanned three decades. She made many wonderful friends through her various associations at this time and had many wonderful experiences.

Mom was a devoted Latter-day Saint and fulfilled many assignments throughout her life in auxiliary leadership positions and as a temple worker. Most notable was her dedication to genealogical research that began in earnest as a newlywed. After retiring from Tupperware, she spent many years working three or four days a week in the church genealogical center in Salt Lake. Following her own lines from Norway, she developed an expertise in researching Norwegian records that she willingly shared by assisting others.

Mom also found great joy in helping support her grandsons on their missions, and in knitting afghans and baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All of us will miss her sweet spirit and the timely birthday cards she faithfully sent year after year.

Mom is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Delos Hale, and her sister Carol Christopherson. She is survived by her children; Gary (Kathy) Hale, Layton, UT; Pamela (Charlie) Alley, Logan, UT and Chris (Kim) Hale, Grapevine, TX. She is also survived by a sister, Jeane (Don) Braegger, Ogden, UT; brothers Dale (Ann) Christopherson, Hooper, UT; Lynn (Janis) Christopherson, Ogden, UT, and daughter-in-law, Jenny Prows Hale, South Jordan, UT; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N 400 E. where friends may visit family from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to her wonderful friends and all those at Legacy House of Logan and CNS Hospice who lovingly cared for and gave comfort to our Mom during the recent weeks of her declining health due to renal failure.
