Ida Davis

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Ida Davis of Clearfield, Utah, passed away on January 1, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She fought long and hard, and her struggles were many, but she took it stride and lived each day to the fullest.  She was surrounded by her family during her passing and was welcomed into Heaven by those she loved that had passed before her.

Ida was born July 30, 1935 in Burgbirkenfeld, Germany to Julius and Elizabeth Lambert.  She migrated to the United States in 1960 and in 1961 she moved to Clearfield, Utah.  She married the love of her life, George E. Davis Jr., on August 3, 1974 in Elko, Nevada.  Together they raised two beautiful daughters and two strong sons.  The love she had for her husband and children was her life force, the legacy she left behind is precious and strong.

Her occupations included the National Service, a cannery in Clearfield, Utah, a professional housekeeper and daycare provider.

Some of her favorite things to do were crocheting, dancing, knitting, cooking, gardening, crafting, shopping, and ceramics.  Her favorite thing to do was, to travel to Wendover, Nevada so she could eat the seafood and play in the casinos.

Her passion was her family and friends.  They were her driving force.  They always came first.  She loved fiercely and she made sure everyone knew how much love she felt for them.  She raised many children, not just her own.  She spent much of her free time after retirement, spending time with her many grandchildren.  It was normal for all the children to spend the night at grandma’s house and she loved every minute of it.  She was a friend to many, loyal and true.  She was always there for everyone.  She was giving and also forgiving.  She was the strength and the glue, and she will be greatly missed.  Knowing that she is now at peace, whole again and with her loved ones that have passed, gives us peace.

Surviving are her husband, George E. Davis, her children, Ulrike Harris (Jed), Ottis M. Foster, Mary Bastian (Randy) and James L. Foster, 15 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers and her parents.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Wade Larsen.  He managed to give our family the gift of more time.  The exceptional care and understanding he showed Ida and the family was over and above what most doctors would provide.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton.  Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
