Evie Newbold

Evie Marie Newbold passed away on May 31 st , 2015 after a courageous and inspiring fight with Biliary Atresia, a rare liver disease. Evie was born August 26 th , 2013.

It was actually a fight she won, preserving her infectious smile and extraordinary personality for far too few months. Evie won with the fighting spirit of her parents, Trevor and Michele. Evie packed more life, made more people feel warmth and love and brought more joy in her short life than many who die of old age.

She was the light and life of Michele and Trevor Newbold. Their spirit and fight for Evie’s life was the stuff of a Hollywood script. Evie defied all odds and doubtful medical practitioners and proved them all wrong by successfully receiving a liver transplant and laughing and smiling through her whole life despite probably never feeling perfectly well or perfectly comfortable.

What was perfect was her spirit which lifted each and every one of us. She stared down disease and death and beat it with her winning smile and a belly laugh. She loved being home with her remarkable mother Michele. Through sometimes tough and trying times they played and smiled and laughed even as she faced unpleasant and sometimes painful treatment, and she loved when “Daddy” Trevor came home and her face would light up the whole home.

Evie had a fan club that stretched across the country and even the World from as far away as Afghanistan, Nepal, and New Zealand. Social media made her a favorite adorable miracle child and had people requesting frequent updates on “How is Evie”. People she never met cared deeply because her spirit was so strong, her soul was so wise, her personality was the brightest of candles ever, but it was extinguished horribly too soon.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
