Elaine Hunsaker

February 19, 1941 — July 13, 2021

Elaine Jean Bingham Hunsaker

On July 13, 2021, Elaine Jean Bingham Hunsaker departed from this life at the age of 80.

Elaine was born on February 19, 1941, on a farm in Duchesne County, Utah. As a child, she developed a lifelong love of animals. Her challenging youth helped her grow to be a strong and tenacious woman. Elaine was humble and popular among her peers. She served as Miss Duchesne County and was a rodeo queen for the Uintah Basin Rodeo. During her years in the Uintah Basin, she formed friendships that endure to this day.

Elaine attended Utah State University, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. While at Utah State, she met and married her lifelong sweetheart, J. Robert Hunsaker, on October 12, 1961. She productively balanced a successful career at Mountain Bell/US West while also being a homemaker, devoted wife, and excellent mother. Elaine was not just a mother to her children; she was also a best friend, inspiration, advisor, and confidant.

She loved to go dancing with her sweetheart Robert and to spend time with her friends in Beaver Dam, Arizona. She could out-shop everyone and had a knack for sleuthing out the best garage sale finds. Elaine was creative and industrious, knitting and crocheting as well as making jewelry and handbags for friends. She lovingly sewed housewares (duvet covers, blinds, dog clothes … you name it) and every outrageous clothing item her children could dream of. She patiently endeavored to teach these creative skills to her children.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma Haslem and Ercil Bingham, and her brother Dale Hayes. She is survived by her husband J. Robert Hunsaker; her children Lori Hunsaker (Daryl Crossland), Robert Hunsaker (Brenda Hunsaker), and Alisa Hunsaker; her grandchildren; Easton Hunsaker and Elijah Hunsaker; and her siblings Joyce Murry, Perry Bingham, Alan Bingham, and Sam Haslam. The loss of her infectiously joyful sprit will be felt by many and will leave a vacancy in our lives and hearts.
