David Hodge

March 4, 1954 — November 3, 2019

David Kevin Hodge (Dave) was born on March 4, 1954, and passed away quietly at his home on November 3, 2019. Dave was the second youngest from a family of five children.

Dave grew up in Sunset, Utah, and currently resided in the house he grew up in. He joined the Marines in 1972 and later married Bonnie Ellis in 1975. They had two children, David Bryan, and Jessie Craig Hodge. Dave and Bonnie were later divorced.  David married Wendy Schmidt in 2000, and was later divorced.

Dave was inescapably likeable. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and tinkering with various and sundry projects around his home. Dave had a great sense of humor and was known for practical jokes and his quick wit. He was an independent soul who lived his life on his own terms. He had experience with a number of different occupations and traveled wherever his heart led him.

Dave eventually moved back home to Sunset and lived with his beloved parents. He purchased the family home and was able to provide loving care for his parents, Bob and Ruth, during their final years. He commented shortly before his passing that the best thing he ever did in his life was to be a care giver for his parents during their final years.

Dave is survived by his son David Bryan, grandchildren Mason Hodge and Darien Hodge, sister Cathy Park and brothers Mike Hodge and Dan Hodge, and many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his son Jessie Hodge, younger brother Kelly Hodge, and his parents Robert and Ruth Hodge.

The family would like to thank the Encompass Hospice’s team for providing excellent care and advice during the final week of Dave life as well as Bonnie Hodge for the many hours she spent keeping watch over him during his final days.
