Cecil Parker

December 7, 1929 — January 9, 2021

Cecil Blaine Parker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and brother was called home to our Heavenly Father and reunited with Mary, his sweetheart of 58 years, on Saturday January 9, 2021.

Cecil was born to Orrin Melvin Parker and Myrtle Selena Bean in Hibbard, Idaho on December 7, 1929. He grew up in Rexburg, Idaho with his sister Naomi and brother Glen. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and was in the reserve until 1961.

At the age of 29, he met his sweetheart at a church dance. With his twinkling eyes and dazzling smile, he was able to melt her heart and they were married on August 4, 1960 in the Logan Temple for time and all eternity. Together they were very blessed, had eight children, and raised a beautiful family. Cecil attended Brigham Young University where he earned a Masters in Library Sciences. He is a true blue BYU sports fan!

Cecil was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission for the church in the Texas-New Mexico area. Throughout his life, he served and held many callings in the church, but he most enjoyed serving in the temple with his wife. He also loved singing in the church choir and enjoyed sharing his testimony of the Savior. He loved genealogy and reading family histories. Telling stories of his ancestors was something he enjoyed sharing with others, especially his children. Cecil was a man of integrity, kindness and love. He served his family with love, as they were his greatest joy. He always had a sparkle in his eyes when he smiled. We will miss him dearly, but knowing he is with his loved ones who have gone before him gives us peace in our hearts.

He is survived by his children, David (Peg), Brenda (Troy), Eric (Bonnie), Marva (Warren), Robert (Cula), Julia (Jesse), and Joseph (DeAidra); 27 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary and daughter, Janell.

A viewing will be held from 10 -10:45 am on Saturday, January 16, 2020 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
