Byron Leroy Knight

Byron passed away peacefully surrounded by family. A lifelong resident of Harrisville, Utah, he was the son of J. Wallace and Lenora Knight and the youngest of six boys and one girl.

Throughout his life Byron was dedicated to service. He served his country in the Army from 1956-1958, his church in the Western Canadian Mission from 1959-1961, and was actively involved in civic service through his efforts in the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Harrisville City Council and the Planning Commission.

Following his mission he married his sweetheart, Janice Dabb, on May 18, 1961 in the Salt Lake City Temple.

He graduated from Weber State College, The Los Angeles College of Mortuary Science and would go on to use his unique talents and skills for over 50 years in the funeral service industry. Byron used his gentle demeanor and calming influence to bring peace and comfort to many in their most dire time of need.

Byron was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a faithful priesthood holder where he served in many capacities. He particularly enjoyed serving in the Scouting program and working at the Stake farm. He loved gardening, being outdoors, reading, family history, and taking the scenic route.

He is survived by his wife Janice of 56 years, his brother Lynn (Marcia) Knight, his children Todd (Debbi), Scott (Georgia), Janalee (Mark), Michael (Jennie), and Kimberlee (Shawn), 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents J. Wallace and Lenora Knight, his sister Donna Garrard, his brothers: Burt, Wayne, Larry and Danny Knight, and his grandson Alexander Anderson.

The family would like to thank Lindquist Mortuaries and staff for their friendship and support through the years.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
