SYRACUSE a€" Brandon John Winger, 13, returned home to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Friday, June 1, 2012 after fighting a valiant 14 month battle with cancer. Cancer was the cause of his passing, but cancer did not win this battle. Brandon''s amazing spirit was never taken by it. He was and always will be a fighter.

He was born May 17, 1999 in Ogden, Utah the son of Daniel Ira and Kathy Sorenson Winger. Brandon had a smile that lit up a room and was very contagious. He loved his sisters and brother.

Brandon was a Deacon in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He honored his priesthood duties and was an active member of the Boy Scouts and on track to receive his Eagle.

He loved playing football, hunting, camping and helping his dad work.

His battle was shared by the whole community and our family felt loved and supported all along the way. Thank you will never be enough to show our gratitude for the care we have all received.

Surviving are his parents, brother Jackson, sisters, Bethany, Mallory, Megan, Kendra, Jessica, grandparents, John and Penny Sorenson, Dave and Susan Winger, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse South Stake Center, 3065 S. Bluff Road. Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment, Moroni Cemetery.

A special thanks to Outfitters Guide TV and Hunt of a Lifetime for giving Brandon, amazing opportunities to hunt that he would not have enjoyed otherwise. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Anything for a Friend Organization at www.anythingforafriend.com, an organization that helped Tyler and our family know that this wasn''t just our battle, but the communities'' battle as well.
