Bonnie Heywood

Bonnie Robins Heywood, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Friday, October 17, 2014. She was born August 31, 1920 to Glen F. and Lola Curtis Robins in Kaysville, UT. At 17 years of age she married the love of her life, George R. Heywood on September 24, 1937 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. George passed away in 2009 just short of celebrating 72 years of marriage.

Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper for the Davis Farm Co-op Credit Union, served as a judge of elections for Kaysville City and Davis County, and organized and participated in the Davis County Fair in the 1950-60s. She and George were members of the Kaysville JC’s that later formed a group called the “Exhausted Roosters and Pooped Hens.”

Bonnie was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions in the Relief Society organization both on the stake and ward levels. She loved fixing meals for the activities and teaching the women homemaking skills. Bonnie was known for her quilting, cooking, and her homemade chocolates. Her kind gentle service to others was the special gift that she shared with all who she came in contact with.

Preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, Geraldine, and great-granddaughter, Selene. Bonnie is survived by her children: Kurt (Jannette), Layton; Robyn (Ralph) Lewis, Clearfield; Georgia Wilcox, Bountiful; sisters: Ruth (Mark) Stringham, Orem; Glenna Feller, Salt Lake; Clover Carroll, Bountiful; brother, Dee Robins, Farmington; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main, where friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

The family expresses their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Apple Tree Assisted Living and to Horizon Hospice Specialists for the loving care given to their mother.
