Billiejean Vasey

August 16, 1928 — April 27, 2021

Billiejean Louise Martin Lyon Vasey

She was born August 16, 1928 in Los Angeles, CA to Louise Margaret Jones and Golden Ellis Martin.

Billiejean is preceded in death by her mother and father, step-mother, Leah Beckstead Martin, her 1st husband, Truman Harold Lyon, her 2nd husband, James Richard Vasey Jr., brother, Wayne LeRoy Martin (wife Dorothy), son, Stephen James Vasey (wife Monika), daughter, Trudy Louise Lyon, grandchildren, David Benjamin Lyon, Tamara Jean Lyon, Dallas Ariel Johnson, and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Connar Moore.

Billiejean is survived by three sons, Truman Martin (Marty) Lyon, Gordon “H” Lyon (wife Lynnette Lyon) and Jann Richard Vasey (wife Mary Vasey).  She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 66 7/9 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed her youth in Los Angeles, CA and Salt Lake City, UT.  Her married life took her to Cedar City, UT, American Fork, UT, Mesa, AZ, Livermore, CA and Layton, UT where she passed away at the wonderful ole age of 92 on April 27, 2021.

She was extremely active and loved the outdoors.  She loved the sports of archery, bowling and golf and competed in all three.  She also loved boating, fishing and hunting.  Her children remember growing up on bottled venison.

Billiejean (Mom) was always involved in service in one manner or another.  She took personal pride in caring for the severely handicapped at the American Fork Training School for many years.  She loved and cared for the needs of both of her husband’s and her daughter as their health declined prior to their passing.

Mom played a mean game of UNO and was very competitive.  Many times she was caught hiding Draw Fours in different parts of her clothing.

Her final years were spent at the Fairfield Village Independent Living, Rehabilitation Facility and Assisted Living in Layton, Utah where she accrued hundreds of Bingo Bucks and was a feared opponent in Wii Bowling.

She was just plain FUN and Wonderful.  She had an infectious personality and always seemed to become the favorite guest wherever she was.  She dearly loved her family and her Lord and Savior.

Billiejean, Sis, Mom, and Grandma will be eternally loved and missed.  We all envy the incredible reunion she is enjoying right now, but we will patiently wait for our turns.
