Barbara Russell

September 20, 1937 — July 26, 2021

Barbara Sue Russell

Barbara Sue Russell went to her Heavenly home on July 26, 2021.  She was 83 years old.  Her final days were spent in Utah to be near her daughter Patty.

Born Barbara Sue Wells on September 20, 1937 in Hobbs New Mexico, she was the only child of Hershel and Kathleen (Sheeon) Wells.  She spent the first 14 years of her life moving around the oil field camps and towns of Texas because of her father’s job as an oil field worker.  They settled in Midland in 1951.  She attended Midland High School and graduated in 1956.  From 1956 to 1960 she lived in Ft. Worth and San Antonio before returning to Midland for good.

Barbara had been a member of Crestview Baptist Church for over 60 years.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Commercial Bank and Trust from 1975 until her retirement in 1992.   She loved bowling, sewing for the public, playing Bunco and spending time with her family and friends.  In 1989, she married Joe T. Russell.   He and her parents preceded her in death.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Patty Conner Rose (Shane) of Layton, Utah and Sherry Conner Milstein (Mark) of Presque Isle, Michigan, grandson Travis Milstein of Rochester New York and granddaughter Molly Milstein of Honolulu, Hawaii.

No funeral services will be held at this time but a celebration of life will be held in Monahans, Texas later this fall.

In lieu of flowers, Patty and Sherry ask that donations be made to the Lone Star Animal Sanctuary of Midland or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
