Zelda Mary Draper Terry, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother passed away on October 23, 2024 at the age of 104, surrounded by loving family members. Zelda was born June 22 1920 to Zira Poulsen Draper and Elsie Spendlove in Winnemucca, Nevada. Zelda married Dilworth Langston Terry November 22, 1939.
Zelda, nicknamed “Blondie”, met Dilworth “Dub” at the town dance hall. One day when “Dub” didn’t show up to the dance, Zelda tracked him down at his home and wanted to know where he had been? The rest is history as they were married and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple May 28, 1959. Dilworth passed away August 11, 1972.
Zelda graduated from Provo High School and worked in the jewelry department at Kress’s. She lived in Alpine and Tooele before buying a home in Pleasant Grove where she lived until she was 100 years old. She moved to Abbington Assisted Living as the oldest resident there. She was known and loved by the staff and the residents. She was greeted by name throughout the facility.
Zelda had a love for people and animals. She would start conversations with people at the grocery store while in line to check out and they were new friends by the time they were walking out the door. She was an advocate for all animals and donated to the ASPCA monthly. She took in any stray animal that came to her door.
Zelda is survived by 3 children, Carma King, Colleen Kay Nielsen, and Marleen RaNae Scott, as well as 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by parents, 4 brothers, 4 sisters, sons Denis Dilworth Terry (and Elsa), and Stanley Merrill Terry (and Jean), and sons in law Gerald Carl King and George Scott.
