Yoshiko Y. Yokota

Our loving sister, aunt and friend, Yoshiko Y. Yokota, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2016.

She was born September 28, 1928 in Roy, Utah to Kiyoshi Yamamoto and Namiye Uchimura. She graduated from Davis High School in 1946. She lived in Denver, Colorado in the 1950’s, Monterey, California from 1966 to 1979 and in Clinton, Utah from 1980 to the present.

In February of 1977, Yoshiko married Akira William Yokota in Seaside, California. He preceded her in death September 21, 1983.

She served in several leadership capacities in the Buddhist Women’s organizations, such as WBA and Fujinkai. Her favorite activities were going to Wendover with the “Four Musketeers”, fishing with Bill and mom, and gardening vegetables and flowers.

Yoshiko is survived by three brothers, Stom (Lola) Yamamoto of Syracuse, UT; Russ Yamamoto of Clinton, UT; Glenn (Hiroko) Yamamoto of Okinawa, Japan; two sisters, Martha Harada of Roy, UT; and Mary (Tubber) Okuda of Henderson, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Tad, Shig and Sam.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Rocky Mountain Care Center for their compassionate care of Yoshiko throughout the last month.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Japanese Buddhist Church of Ogden, 155 North Street. The family will meet with friends Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.
