Wilma V. Covey

Wilma V. Covey, 83, of West Haven, Utah, passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 25th, 2026, in Roy, Utah. She was born on September 13th, 1942, in Dordrecht, Netherlands, to parents Jacob and Kathy VandeMyle. Her family immigrated to Ogden, Utah, when she was just nine years old

Wilma married her “best buddy,” Earl, on March 15th, 1963, in Elko, Nevada, and their love was everlasting. She was a stay-at-home mother to their three children until they were grown. She enjoyed being a tutor at their school and especially loved volunteering in the ceramics department. Together, they had many adventures, including waterskiing, camping, traveling, rodeos, and so much more. Years later, Wilma and Earl also brought their grandchildren along for some of the trips. Their favorite memories include jeeping in Moab and frequent trips to Yellowstone.

For several years, she worked at Cross Western Wear, particularly during the holidays, to help with Christmas wrapping. She later had a successful career with America First Credit Union, beginning as a teller and then moving to the loan department. After retirement, she and Earl enjoyed traveling, camping, and frequent trips with many of their dearest friends. Some of her favorite trips included Washington D.C., Yuma, and the Pacific Northwest. Anyone who knew Wilma knew she was one of a kind. She had a stellar sense of humor, was easy to talk to, and knew how to have a great time.

She is survived by her husband, Earl W. Covey, two children, Mark [Alica] Covey, Pamela [Richie] Covey-Aoki, and two grandchildren, Taylor [Robert] Covey and Teagan Covey. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Covey, parents, Jake and Kathy VandeMyle, and her 4 siblings.
