OGDEN a€" William Ray Johnson, 81, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital.

He was born July 9, 1926 in Poe, West Virginia, a son of Benjamin Hobart and Beatrice Clere Johnson.

In 1947, Bill married Mildred Flossie Beckett in Huntington, West Virginia. Mildred preceded him in death in 1990.

He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in the 301st Naval Construction Battalion U.S.S. Merapi. He also served in the Army Reserves.

Bill retired from Veterans Affairs as a superintendent following many years of service.

He enjoyed historical reading, traveling and spending time with his family.

Surviving are four sons, four daughters and many grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.

Interment, Phoenix, Arizona Veterans Cemetery.
