William Allison "Butch" Giles, 61, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 due to complications from a short illness.

He was born to Allison F. and Dorothy Shaw Giles of Clearfield in the winter of 1950, on December 11th. In this loving home, he joined an older sister, Vicki, and later their younger brother, Rex, would join both of them. Butch attended schools in the Davis School District and graduated from Clearfield High School. After high school, he joined the reserves and spent time in Lakland, Texas.

On September 2, 1976, Butch married Judy Lynn Call. Their love would prove strong for 36 years. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on January 8, 1993. Butch''s life was made even fuller with the birth of a loving daughter, Devre. When she married Austin Carter in the fall of this year, Butch''s love extended to him, as a son and a friend. He was always proud of his family. Butch had no greater joy than spending time with them, especially in the outdoors.

Butch was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. He was a friend to everyone, and it meant a great deal to him to be able to serve and support neighbors and friends.

Throughout his life, Butch demonstrated a profound work ethic. He believed in working hard and doing things well. He lived this belief in his long employment at Staker Parsons.

Butch loved everything outdoors. We remember him on motorcycles, on snowmobiles, and on horses. We cherish our memories of being with him camping, hunting, or relaxing at the Bear Lake cabin.

In our hearts, we will hold dear the memory of his smile, his laugh, his love of mountains, his goodness with animals, and with his work ethic.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Giles, West Point; his daughter, Devre Lynn Giles (Austin) Carter, West Point; his sister, Vicki (Frank) Corgiat, Roy; his brother, Rex (Pam) Giles, Smithfield; he is also survived and mourned by nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws, friends, and three family dogs.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Allison F. Giles and Dorothy Shaw Giles; a sister, Tamora Giles; grandparents, Robert and Lena Giles and Vic and Zylpha Shaw. Judy''s parents, Phil and Deloris Call, loved Butch as their own son; he joins them too now.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Morgan Cemetery.

The family would like to extend thanks to CNS Hospice, especially the care and support shown by Amber and Jessica.
