William DeVon Coles

September 24, 1940 — July 21, 2023

William DeVon (Von) Coles, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, husband and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2023. He was born September 24, 1940.

He graduated from Weber High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Weber State College. He married his junior high and high school sweetheart, Elaine Parkinson, on November 26, 1960. They were blessed with three children; Julie, Jeff, and David.

From early on he had a love of cars and he turned that love into a successful business. He was the proud owner of Utah Auto Parts of Ogden for 37 years, and retired in 2012.

Von enjoyed travel and cruises with his wife and family friends. He loved being active and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed working in his yard, helping others, and he always looked forward to a game of golf. Many people told Von he should have been a professional golfer. In recent years, Tuesdays were for his lunch date with friends, and Fridays for golfing.

He was very proud of his children, and grandchildren, and delighted by his seven great-grandchildren, and they all loved him deeply in return.

Von was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leona Coles; wife, Elaine, and brother, Glen. He is survived by his daughter, Julie White; son, Jeffrey (Traci); son David (Pam); and brother, Val (Alice).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 8th Ward, 350 W. 5100 S., Washington Terrace. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., Ogden.
