Listen to Obituary

William Burnell Jensen, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and disciple of Jesus Christ, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on October 26, 2025, at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home.

Bill was born July 22, 1934, in North Ogden, Utah, to Lida Bingham and Gordon W. Jensen. He cherished his sisters, Connie (John) Nielsen and Eulalia (Quinten) Nielsen. As a child, he loved music, the outdoors, and adventure.

For 22 years, Bill proudly served in the United States Army in many locations. His travels sparked a love for diverse customs and cultures. While stationed in Japan, he especially grew to love Japanese culture. Bill cherished his time serving his country. He forged many lasting friendships and treasured memories.

While stationed in Vietnam, Bill exchanged letters with Marion Rushton, and over the years, their friendship blossomed. Bill fell in love with Marion and her children, David Taylor and Cheryl (Blake) Parker. On October 3, 1967, Bill and Marion married in Ogden, UT. Soon after, they relocated with their family to his next Army assignment in New Jersey and later moved to Germany. During their time in Germany, the family was sealed for time and eternity in the Switzerland Temple. This European chapter fostered a love of travel that continued after Bill’s service ended, and they returned to the United States.

After the Army, Bill enjoyed working for the U.S. Postal Service, where he was known for his dedication and friendliness. Bill's unique talents and hobbies made him equally comfortable baking sourdough bread or building stage sets for productions such as The Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Ballet West. Throughout his life, Bill loved recounting how his pranks kept the cast and crew on their toes.

In 2002, Bill was preceded in death by his dear wife Marion. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Lida and Gordon, and his siblings, Connie, Eulalia, and Gordon.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill cherished serving. Later, he served as a senior missionary at the Salt Lake City Conference Center and as a temple worker at the Ogden Utah Temple. Bill always shared his love for the Savior through service.

During temple service, Bill met and fell in love with Linda Laws. They were sealed on June 5, 2008, in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. Together, they shared many happy years full of laughter and fun. Bill loved his stepchildren, Lisa (Rolando) Zamora, Craig (Mindy) Ulibarri, and Laura (Shane) Martin.

Ever a child at heart, he loved spending time with his 15 grandchildren, Stephanie, Shawn, Amorette, Dannielle, Kesler, Ian, Kaleb, Alecia, Aidyn, Sarah, Seth, Curtis, Michelle, Chance, and Kameron, and cherished his 11 great-grandchildren, Jason, Hailey, Oliver, Kade, Beckam, Ashley, Quin, Adelyn, Kristin, Boston, and Wyatt.

Bill’s love for the outdoors and exercise continued through his life. At 88, he was in better shape than his grandkids, biking 1,200 miles in one summer. He eagerly hiked and camped with family. Known for his quick wit, spontaneous jokes, and friendly personality, Bill brought laughter and warmth to all. He will be dearly missed, but his family finds comfort knowing he is reunited with loved ones.

We would like to thank all who lovingly cared for Bill at Quail Meadow Assisted Living and George E. Wahlen Veterans Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond Stake Center, 3610 North 650 East, North Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at 2:30 p.m. at the Providence Cemetery.

Though it was not intended, Bill would have gotten a laugh out of his funeral being held on Halloween. We welcome his friends and family to join us in celebrating this truly remarkable man!
