Wayne H Braithwaite
SOUTH OGDEN - Wayne H Braithwaite passed away of cancer on his wife''s "22nd" leap year birthday and eight days short of his 88th birthday at his home in South Ogden. He was born on March 8, 1924 in Manti, Utah to Clinton J and Eva Hall Braithwaite. He married Elizabeth Farr in the Salt Lake LDS Temple 65 years ago.
He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean War. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as MIA Superintendent, Stake Finance Clerk, High Priest Group Leader and most recently loved being the greeter.
As an officer of the credit union, he served on the credit committee. Wayne was the local and the State President of the National Association of Letter Carriers and retired from the Post Office after many years of service. He enjoyed repairing watches for over 50 years where he met lots of nice people.
He and his sweetheart enjoyed the Weber Waffies Travel Trailer Club and were snowbirds to Arizona for 20 years. His favorite times were being with his family.
Wayne is survived by his wife; sons, Jay (Jean) Braithwaite, Riverdale; and Lyle F. (Jill) Braithwaite, West Valley City; daughters, Ilene (Marlin) Hoffmann, Pleasant View; and Carol Wilson, South Ogden; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way; brothers, Wallace (Lora) Braithwaite; and Carl Braithwaite; and sister, Elga (Erick) Nicholls. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lynn and sisters, Maxine Petersen and Maurine Draper.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
With sincere thanks to the Alpine Hospice caregivers, including Miller, Robert, Justin, Bruce, Susan and Tammy who took such wonderful care of dad and mom.
