Listen to Obituary

Walter Eugene Northam, II, 80, of Riverdale, was found to have passed away in his home on February 6, 2026. Born March 26, 1945, in Elkhart, Indiana, Walt was the oldest of two children of Walter Eugene, Sr. and Velma Leigh Myers Northam. Raised and schooled in Indiana and later Redlands, California, where he graduated from high school, Walt eventually made his way to Roy, Utah. Walter served honorably in the United States Army after graduating from high school.

Walt was married several times and eventually divorced all his spouses. He had one child, a daughter, Marie, with his fourth spouse, Pamela Jo Layton. They were married in August of 1974 in Las Vegas, NV and divorced in the summer of 1989. Walt also helped raise his stepson, Delbert Layton. Walt faithfully carried photos of Marie and his grandchildren in his wallet.

He lived in Roy and later Riverdale for a long time, having worked as a General Manager of a dealership and after retiring from that, as Manager of an Auto Parts Department, among other jobs.

Walt was a hard worker, and he will be remembered for being very particular and respectful. He knew how things were to be done and tried to inculcate that in those around him. He was very devoted to his mother, helping care for her in her later years. He also loved cats.

These last few years, Walt loved spending time with his friends at McDonald’s.

Walt is survived by his daughter, Marie S. L. Northam, Santa Fe, NM; two granddaughters, Montana Gonzalez and Jayana Jo Northam; and by his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his sister, Sandra Northam Dennis; by his former spouse, Pamela Jo Lynch.

Cremation is in care of Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

Military honors will be accorded at his graveside service later in New Mexico.
