Vonna F. C. Whiteman Christensen

Vonna Frances Christopher Whiteman Christensen passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. She was born November 16, 1915 in American Falls, Idaho, the only child of William A. and Ritta May Potter Christopher. Vonna was raised in Soda Springs, Idaho, graduating from Soda Springs High School. She married Jerry D. Whiteman on January 4, 1934. Jerry passed away March 12, 1966. She married Martin C. Christensen on February 15, 1972. Vonna thoroughly enjoyed living in Caliente, Nevada when their two sons were young and she was cub mother for their Cub Scout Troup. She organized and started the first school lunch program while PTA President and started the first inoculations in the school.

Later, Vonna moved to Ogden and worked at DDO a€" Sub Repair as Supervisor of one wing. She then moved to Buffalo, New York. She was Department manager and buyer for Adam Mildrom & Anderson. Moving back to Ogden, Vonna was department manager and buyer for Bon Marche. She then worked for St. Benedicts Hospital and organized the first credit office and was Credit Counselor and Accounts Manager for ten years leaving in 1972 to marry Martin. They then moved to California where Vonna had the same position at Sturman & Stollmen OB GYN Clinic. After Martin passed away on September 2, 1985, Vonna decided to move back to Ogden in October 1988.

Vonna enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, working in them until her later years. Playing cards, boating, bowling, fishing and sewing were a great part of her life for many years.

She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Vonna is survived by her two sons, Ronald Jay Whiteman and Jerald D. Whiteman of Ogden.

As per Vonna''s request there will not be any services. Cremation entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
