Virginia Mayberry Child

E. Virginia Mayberry Child, 82, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012. She was born January 18, 1930 at her grandmother''s home in Kanesville, Utah to Raymond and Daisy Mayberry. She grew up in Ogden and attended Weber High School.

On April 7, 1949, Virginia married L. Lawrence Child in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived and raised their family in Clinton.

Virginia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Primary, Young Women''s and Relief Society. She especially enjoyed working with the Scouts in Guide Patrol.

She took great interest in current events and political issues. She was very patriotic and highly valued freedom. She enjoyed tending her roses, family history, visiting with friends and neighbors and getting together with her high school friends.

Her crowning achievement was being the best Grandma ever. She adored her grandchildren and entertained with parties and dinners for every holiday... her favorite was the 4th of July.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Lawrence, Clinton; a daughter, Elaine (Walt) Flint, West Point; three sons, Garth Child, Kennewick, WA; Reed (Gay Lynne) Child, West Point; Ted (Janet) Child, West Point; 17 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Spencer (Janet) Child, Clearfield; Don (Maxine) Child, Clinton; sister-in-law, Veta (Edgel) Bailey, Rexburg, ID; and sister-in-law, Janet R. Child, Clinton.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dean (Charlene) Mayberry, a brother, Wayne (Sharon) Mayberry, a sister, Evelyn Mayberry, a sister-in-law, Eileen Child and a grandson, Bart (Isabelle) Child.

The family extends a special thank you for the life long friendship and service of Lawanna C. Brown and Janet R. Child. Also thanks to the Davis Hospital staff for their excellent care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Clinton City Cemetery.
