Viola “Vi” Ashmore

Viola “Vi” Ashmore, 86, passed away October 2, 2015 at her home in Layton, Utah.

She was born October 27, 1928 to James Walter and Fannie Bacca Lambson Gilbert.

She married Wayland Andrew Ashmore on March 20, 1946 in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple.

Vi had resided in Chihuahua, Mexico; Arizona; California; Utah and Washington throughout her life.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She held various callings, Relief Society, Sunday School Teacher, Young Women and served two full time missions with her husband in Indiana Indianapolis and Philippines Cebu.

She liked crocheting, quilting, reading, table games and geneology.

Surviving are her husband Wayland Ashmore, eight children, Leslie (Lloyd) Burress, Susan Ashmore, Joyce (Max) Winter, Ronald (Rose) Ashmore, Bruce (Debbie) Ashmore, Paul (Joyce) Ashmore, Dana (Bob) Brown, Jennifer (Myke) Loftus, 30 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Viola was loved and admired by all who knew her.  She was lovingly cared for through the last few months by her children.  Heartfelt thanks to Dana, Leslie, Jennifer for their tireless service to their beloved mother and to all of the children and grandchildren who so willingly assisted in her care.

Preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.  Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
