Viola May (Lillegard) Anderson
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Viola May Anderson on August 27, 2025, at the age of 94. The world feels a little less bright without her.
She was born May 17, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Theodore Lillegard and Annie May (Venstra) Lillegard.
Viola was a very strong woman, had a strong work ethic, and loved her family. She always fulfilled her responsibilities with dedication and love. She had a green thumb and a love for all things that bloom, finding joy in gardening, planting flowers, and caring for her yard, which earned her "Yard of the Month" on multiple occasions. Viola was also known to be ridiculously punctual; you could set your clock by her. She was a wonderful cook, and you could always guarantee fresh vegetables from her garden during the summertime at the dinner table.
Viola married Russell Dagsen and had five children: Judy Slocum, Kathleen (Robert) McCreary, Alan Dagsen, Sandra “Sandy” (Dagsen) Duersch, and Craig Dagsen. They later divorced.
Viola married again in 1981 to Leone “Andy” Anderson, who preceded her in death in 2006. Viola’s life was enriched by travel, thanks to her husband Andy’s career as a truck driver. Together, they explored many states and created lasting memories on the open road. When asked “what her favorite place to see was” it was Montana. She said it was the most beautiful place she had ever been to. She would tell stories of them stopping at local bars to get a dance in and how they enjoyed finding the best “mom and pop” restaurants along the way.
Viola is survived by her two sisters, Edna and Helen, and her four living children: Judy, Kathy, Sandy, and Craig. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Theodore; her brother, George; her sisters, Shirley and Martha; her son, Alan; her grandson, Jeffrey Andrew Lucero; her great-grandson, Jaron Edgar; and her husband, Andy.
"Your life was a blessing, your memory, a treasure. You are loved beyond words; your granddaughters and family will forever cherish your love grams and the traditions that came with them.”
