Vincent George Lopez, beloved father, passed away May 21, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born April 5, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Florence Obreque Lopez. He married Ruth Leota on January 1, 1946.
Vincent served in the US Army Air Corps. He entered in to active duty on June 14, 1942 and was assigned to the 44th Bomb Group 68th Bomb Squad. He was a Ball Turret Gunner and completed 30 missions over enemy occupied territory in Europe and Germany. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He fondly remembered, "We had the best pilot, who brought us home from every mission."
After he was honorably discharged from the service, he joined the Electrical Union and served in all units of the trade, from Groundman to Superintendent, on various jobs through six states. He was a member of the IBEW for 62 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Lee Ellen Ashley and Venita Hillburn; sons, Vincent L. Lopez, Dennis R. Lopez, and Kris M. Lopez; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife and son, Thomas A. Lopez. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Graveside services will be Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Bountiful City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Friends may visit the family from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, Utah prior to the service. Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com
