Victor B. Jillson

August 16, 1941 — May 3, 2025

Victor B. Jillson, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, in Layton, Utah. He was born

August 16, 1941, in Englewood, New Jersey, to Harold and Natalie Jillson.

Vic proudly served four years of active duty in the United States Air Force, where he trained and

worked in electronic warfare. Following his service, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in

History and Mathematics from Weber State University in 1977. He went on to build a long and

respected career as a Department of Defense civilian employee with the U.S. Air Force, working

in quality control at Hill Air Force Base. His work took him and his wife, Sherma, to Okinawa,

Japan, for two years in the 1980s - a time they both remembered fondly for its culture, cuisine,

and sailing adventures in their Hobie Cat.

After returning to Utah, Vic and Sherma opened Seatopia Pro-Dive in Clearfield. As

PADI-certified instructors taught scuba diving and built a close-knit community of friends.

Together they led dive trips to destinations including Cozumel, Hawaii, Bonaire, and Cayman

Brac.

Vic is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sherma Jillson; his children Debbie Archer (Mark) and

Angie Steiniger, from his previous marriage to Jenean; his stepchildren Carrie Nelson, Dena

Decaria (Doug), and Jeff Madsen (Amy); his siblings Nancy Kransberger, Tom Jillson (Carla),

and Trisha Cornelius (Scott); 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and

nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Natalie Jillson; his twin brother, David

Hunter Jillson (Coleen); brother-in-law, Dennis Deyoung (Janice); and two grandchildren, Abigail

Archer and Jessica Madsen.

Vic will be remembered for his steady work ethic, quiet nature, and adventurous spirit.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 17, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in an open house

format at the home of Doug and Dena Decaria, 427 S. 650 W. in Farmington, Utah. All are

welcome.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many kind neighbors and friends who

have offered prayers, meals, and support during this time- especially those who have lovingly

checked in on Sherma. Your thoughtfulness has been a true comfort.

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
