Vickie Lyn Penrod Barney was a source of love and light to all who knew her. She passed away on June 25, 2024, in Ogden, Utah. Born to Norman C. Penrod and JoAnn T. Penrod on May 15, 1964, Vickie’s life was a radiant example of love and kindness.
Vickie’s journey began in Pleasant View, Utah where she grew up with her five siblings: Julie, Thad, Shirley, Drew, and Jared. Her childhood teemed with laughter and teasing. It was full of love and support. Her upbringing provided a great foundation for the nurturing woman she grew into.
In the fall of 1989, Vickie met her sweetheart of 34 years, Jon Barney. After their first date, they were inseparable. They were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on March 16, 1990. Together, they raised four rambunctious children: Austin, Patrick, Jacob, and Sabrina. They were her absolute pride and joy.
Vickie has filled countless roles throughout her life. She served in many callings as a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, providing a proud testament of Christ to those around her. She worked as a beloved lunch lady at Weber High School for nearly 20 years, developing fond relationships with her co-workers and the youth she served.
When she was not serving her children or others, Vickie enjoyed crafting of all kinds, especially making scrapbooks for her children. She also loved chocolate (a lot), interacting with animals of all kinds, listening and singing along to music, giving heartfelt gifts, visiting with friends, and spending quality time with family. She was and will continue to be loved by many.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Jon Barney; her four children, Austin, Patrick, Jacob, and Sabrina; her grandchildren, Abigail, Henry, and Dax Barney; her mom, JoAnn Penrod; and her four siblings, Thad, Shirley, Drew, and Jared. She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Penrod and her sister, Julie Davidson.
Thanks to her overwhelming adoration, her family will never have to wonder what true love is meant to look like.
