Vernon Rand "Randy" Stonehocker

July 6, 1957 — May 3, 2023

Randy Stonehocker, 65, of Riverdale, Utah, passed away on May 3, 2023, after battling cancer. Randy was born on July 6, 1957, in Ogden, Utah to Mona Lou and Gary Dale Stonehocker. After graduating from Weber High in 1974, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army towards the end of the Vietnam War. After the Army, he went on to travel the United States as a roadie, living a life of wanderlust.

When Randy was young, his father moved to California and his mother remarried the love of her life, Clark Blakeley. Over the years Randy grew very close to Clark and regarded him as his father. He would also visit his father, spending summers in Southern California, living a life full of sunny beach days.

He married Teri Lynn Young on January 14, 1980, and had 3 children, who he loved with all his heart: Dani, Chris, and Shelbi Stonehocker. Randy and Teri divorced in 1999 but they remained close. Teri was able to be with him in his final days and give him comfort. Randy was married a second time in 2007, but for some reason, we can’t remember her name.

Throughout his life, Randy worked as a car mechanic, a service manager, a realtor, and an airplane mechanic at Hill Air Force Base.

Randy was always the funniest person in the room. He had a big personality, with a heart to match. He was always the first to help someone in need and would give his last dollar to someone else who needed it more. He was charismatic, charming, loving and kind. He loved nothing more than to take his Harley for a ride through the canyon and feel the wind in his hair. He loved camping and fishing and loved passing those activities onto his children. Randy loved music and was proud to have attended Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” concert at the LA Coliseum, watching the wall be demolished. He would often have music playing through his sunglass headphones and would literally march to the beat of his own drum. Randy was one of the most intelligent people you would ever meet, his children could ask him any question and he would always have an answer.

What a long, strange, trip it’s been.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, step-father, brother (James) and his nephew (Jason). He is survived by his mother Mona Blakeley, his daughters Dani and Shelbi, his son Chris (Crystal), his brother Jeff (Jacque) and his nephew Zach (Taryn and their children).
