VENNIS MICKELSEN BEAL
RIVERTON a" Vennis Mickelsen Beal, age 95, passed away 18 February 2011 of causes incident to age.
Vennis was born 11 APR 1915 in Roy, Weber, Utah, 7th child born to Edith Pearce and Michael William Mickelsen in a family of 12 children. She knew poverty. She began school in Lewiston in a one room schoolhouse. After many moves her family settled in Salt Lake City where she attended school at Jackson Elementary and finished the 8th grade.
Vennis married Robert William Hunt, 3 March 1931, In Salt Lake City. They were later divorced. She married Henry Roy Hansen Sr., 7 June 1937 in Evanston, Wyoming. They were later divorced. Vennis married her eternal companion Lester Clarence Beal, 28 June 1958 in Las Vegas, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.
She was foreman of the Pistol Shop at Ogden Arsenal, TO Clerk and Switchboard operator at Hill Air Force Base. Vennis'' talents were many: cooking, fixing a radiator; removing, painting or wallpapering a wall; bowling, crocheting, dancing, sewing, fishing, hunting, organizing a library, etc. Vennis loved gardening and everything blossomed under her hand. Nothing was too hard for her. If she didn''t know how to do it, she learned and it had to be perfect. Her last job at age 85-92 was working in the Foster Grandparent program in the schools.
Vennis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served as a teacher, librarian, temple callings and family history extraction.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Loretta) Hunt, Kay (J L) Lundell, H. Roy (Kathie) Hansen Jr. Also surviving are 139 grand, great grand and great-great grand children.
Vennis is preceded in death by her husband Lester; daughters, Edith Hunt and Dolores Byers; step son Robert F. Beal; granddaughter, Michelle Byers; her parents, five brothers, Charlie. Alvin, Roy, Don, Wayne and six sisters: Lydia, Minnie, Hattie, Mary, Olive and Rose.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11am in the Ogden Lindquist Mortuary 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will greet friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 and Wednesday one hour prior to services.
Interment Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park.
