Varda Rose Johnson Barrett 1924-2013

Varda Barrett, 89, passed away peacefully October 9, 2013 at the side of her eternal sweetheart, Bill, and surrounded by her children, after a lifetime of devotion to family and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Varda was born July 29, 1924, in Leamington, Utah, to Axel and Marca Johnson. She left home during World War II to work at Hill Air Force Base. She smiled up at a handsome returned Navy serviceman as he passed her the sacrament, and he became the love of her life. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple, March 19, 1947 and were together 66 1/2 years.

Varda cherished her role as wife, mother and homemaker. We will miss her sweet kind nature, loving acceptance of all, positive attitude, whole wheat pancakes, apricot orange drink, and anagrams games.

She was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings including Primary and Relief Society president.

Varda is survived by her husband, William Barrett, her six children: Robert (Ree), Joan Smith (Kirk), Glenn (Stephanie), Brent (Ginger), Nancy Jennings (Bryan), and Julie Limb (Jeff), 30 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the Orchard 7th Ward Chapel, 3599 S. Orchard Dr., Bountiful. Friends may visit family Thursday, Oct. 17th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Fri. from 9:45 - 10:45 am at the church prior to services.
