Vanessa "Rose" Corsi Chavez

April 15, 2000 — March 29, 2025

Vanessa “Rose” Corsi Chavez, 24, of North Ogden, Utah, passed away on March 29, 2025, in Ogden, Utah. Though her time with us was far too short, her life overflowed with love, compassion, and purpose.

Vanessa, a proud 2017 graduate of Mountain High School, made history during her sophomore year as the only female member of Northridge High Schools Varsity Wrestling Team. Her strength—both physical and emotional—was undeniable. After high school, she continued her education at Weber State University, focusing on American Sign Language, a reflection of her deep desire to connect with others.

Vanessa gave freely of her time and her heart. For the past three and a half years, she homeschooled her beloved nieces, Evannie and Elise Fuhriman, pouring creativity and care into their daily learning. She co-founded Mike’s Place, a shared living home for individuals experiencing homelessness, and Purrfectly Safe, a sanctuary for cats. These were not just projects, these were acts of love, built from her unwavering belief that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and kindness.

Creative to her core, Vanessa danced, longboarded, rode motorcycles, swam, drew, painted, wood burned, sewed, wrote songs, sang, and taught. Her artistic spirit was boundless, a reflection of her vibrant and ever-curious soul. But above all, she gave love—abundantly, selflessly, and without condition.

Vanessa had a gift for seeing beauty in others, even when they couldn’t see it in themselves. Despite enduring intense physical and mental suffering due to Ehlers-Danlos, Behçet’s, chronic pain and bipolar, she often said her own struggles helped her understand how to better help those around her. She lived with empathy that ran deep, showing up for her family, her friends, and complete strangers with quiet strength and radiant kindness.

On March 29, after a courageous battle with her health, Vanessa took her own life. Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled—but her memory will live on in every life she touched and every heart she helped heal.

Vanessa is survived by her mother, Colleen Corsi; her father, Frank Chavez (Kay); her brothers, Caleb Chavez (Jamie) and Isaac Chavez; her stepsisters, Stephanie Bush and Kenzi Bell; her nieces, Evannie and Elise Fuhriman, and Riley Chavez; her grandparents, Dan and Carol Rieb, Clayton Corsi, Linda Matthews, and Frank Chavez; her aunts, Clarice Trinchero (Josh) and Katy Smith; her uncles, Scott Corsi (Brenda), Clint Corsi, Jake Rieb (Angie), and John Rieb (Lynne); and her cousins, Dallas, Devin, Daphne, and Delia Trinchero, Naomi and Skye Corsi, Grant, Graham, and Grace Smith, and Liz and Chloe Rieb.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents Chet and Della Woodward, and Clarence and June Corsi; and her dear friends Nathan Cheney, Parker Whitaker, and Mikey Whitaker.
