Una Mae Kilfoyle Peterson

May 12, 1925 ~ May 3, 2016

BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving mother, and grandmother, Una Mae Kilfoyle Peterson, 90, passed away peacefully and went home to family and friends on the other side of the veil on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in Brigham City, Utah.  Una was born on May 12, 1925 in Tremonton, Utah, daughter of Henry “James” Monroe and Jane Chinnick Bennett Kilfoyle.  Una was raised in Ogden, Utah and attended Ogden High School.

She married Rex Dwayne Peterson on September 15, 1944 in Salt Lake City.  They lived in Ogden, Utah and moved from Utah to Oregon, then to California where they became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and were sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on November 3, 1962.  Mom's life was a life of service to her family, God, and to the community.

Una worked at Smith’s Food King 17 years were she loved the interaction with all her customers.

She was very active in her community of Washington Terrace and worked with the Terrace Day celebration for many years.

Mom held various callings in her church service.  She loved to be part of the activities and compassionate service committees. She had a great desire to make sure everyone felt welcome and needed.

Mom and Dad traveled in their motorhome for almost 13 years and saw America. They lived the dream.

Mom and Dad served three LDS missions together, two in Atlanta, GA and one in Phoenix, AZ.

After Dad’s passing, Mom taught us many lessons of selfless service. She felt blessed to have had six children, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Surviving are her children, Rexine (Harrison) Chesbrough, Finlayson, Minnesota; Beverly Searle, Bountiful, Utah; Barbara Reed, West Jordan, Utah; Mike Peterson, West Jordan, Utah; and Kim (Tresa) Peterson, Perry, Utah. Una was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Dwayne Peterson; son, Dwayne Rex Peterson; grandson, Warren Rex Reed; her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Maple Springs Assistant Living Center for their unconditional love and understanding in taking care of their Mother in her final months of mortality.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
