Tony Ray Loftus

Tony Ray Loftus, age 83, left his loved ones on earth and returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. He was surrounded by many who loved him dearly. His wit, humor and love for his county and family will be greatly missed.

Tony was born on August 4, 1942, in Ogden, Utah to Orrin and Irene Loftus. Tony grew up with a strong sense of family and faith. In 1961, he answered the call to serve his county, joining the U.S. Army-a decision that would shape his life and the lives of those around him. In January 1962, while stationed in Georgia, Tony met and fell in love with Nancy Carol Readdy, the love of his life. The whirlwind romance led to a marriage on April 22, 1962, and later a sealing in the Logan Utah temple in 1969. Their partnership is a testament to enduring love. Tony’s patriotism was evident in his two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Army in 1984, he continued to serve his country at Hill Air Force Base until 2004. His dedication, both in uniform and as a civilian, inspired those who worked alongside him.

Tony and Nancy were blessed with four children, one son and three daughters. Chris, Jenny, Kim, and Amber- each of whom brought light and laughter into their lives. Tony cherished every moment spent with his children, watching them grow, marry and start families of their own. At the time of his passing, Tony was the proud grandfather of eight, with a ninth great-grandchild on the way.

Many good summers were spent at the Eagles Campground up Ogden Canyon. They enjoyed their weekends hunting, fishing, tubing the river, spending time with family and friends and simply enjoying each other’s company. Later Tony and Nancy discovered a shared love for ATV rides and fishing at Devil’s Creek in Idaho.

Tony’s faith was a guiding force in his life. Regular temple attendance, at both the Layton and Bountiful temples, brought him peace and purpose, and he treasured the friendships he made, especially with the Tuesday morning crew in the Bountiful Temple.

Though Tony is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the echoing laughter, and the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren. As we remember Tony, we find comfort and peace in the memories we created together.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his children, Chris Loftus (Kara), Jennifer Kelly (James), Kimberlie Weichert (Paul) and Amber Stineman (Kennadie, daughter); his brother Ronald Loftus; eight grandchildren and nearly nine great grandchildren. He is reunited in peace with his parents, Orrin and Irene Loftus; his siblings, Carol, Terry, Sharlene, Debra, Barbara, and Donald; and his beloved grandson, Dillon Coy.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful and compassionate staff at Holy Cross Hospital Davis, Fairfield Village Rehab and Thatcher Brook Rehab for their loving care.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Green Leaf Ward at 2160 W Gordon Avenue, Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
